During single coughing by infected individual 3000 droplets spreads in the environment. While in sneezing 40000 droplets spreads up to one-meter distance having a speed of 300km/hour.
Each droplet contains approx. 20 lakh viruses.
It may float in air once attached to dust particles and survive for 2 to 3 hours. The survival rate on surfaces depends as follows:
Glass – 96 hours
Plastic and steel –72 hours
Cardboard – 24 hours
Older people and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as diabetes and heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable as their immunity is normally less in comparison to younger.
